Comment: Floating mats of the filamentous alga, Lyngbya, were present along the shoreline and around the island. This algal species required treatment by algaecide in July and was collected using the weed harvester by late summer. Another filamentous species was also often present within beds of hydrilla. The rooted species hydrilla which had been extremely abundant here in recent years appears to have become less common. It is dense in the upper end of the pond, but becomes sparse heading toward the dam. Emergent vegetation is lacking along much of the shoreline as residential lawns grow to the water’s edge in many areas.
