Carp anglers fishing with dough balls, worms, and canned corn should have plenty of action. Largemouth bass and catfish (white and channel) are also present in fair to good numbers. Although crappies are abundant, large individuals are not common. Over half of the adult bass population is larger than 15 inches and there is a chance for an occasional lunker. The shoreline of the lower half of the pond, especially adjacent to the cemetery, is usually a good location for bass and crappie due to the drop offs and deadfalls. There is a health advisory for the entire St. Jones watershed including this lake (see Special Conditions). A fish ladder has been installed on the dam to allow river herring (alewife and blueback) access to historical freshwater spawning areas. River herring use the fish ladder to gain access to.the pond during the spring months. It ii is unlawful for any person to fish within ten feet of the entrance or exit of a fish ladder or remove fish from any ladder between March 15 and May 30. This lake is owned by the City of Dover and a permit is required for launching a boat. No fishing is permitted in the swimming area, but water skiing is permitted on the lake.
The ranking score is used to determine how "popular" a trip or location is. It is calculated based off of a weighted average of the number of reviews and the user ratings. For example, a location with 2 reviews and an average rating of 5 will have a lower "ranking score" than one with 10 reviews and an average rating of 4. This is because even though the first location has a better average rating, it has not been reviewed as much as the second location, so it is not as "popular". In the future we may modify the ranking score to take in additional factors, such as the number of views, comments, and photos.
